It’s safe to say that 2020 hasn’t been the year we thought it would be. While life paused for a moment, cities around the country have moved through the reopening phases. People are going out more and can enjoy summer even if it doesn’t resemble past ones. While many missed dining out DJs and music enthusiasts wondered when live events could come back, and what would they look like? Having spent countless hours watching old sets or Live Stream sets from my living rooms it will never be the same as physically going to a show. With more cities around the country opening live music is making its way back into our lives with drive-in concerts.
Drive-in concerts might look different than the festivals and shows your used to going to but what’s not different is the spirit and energy from the crowd and those on stage. Think of it as a rave tailgate with dancing, flow arts, and all the good vibes. You might not be shoulder-to-shoulder, passing around a water bottle or hanging onto the rail but the community is alive more than ever, and you can feel it.
Make sure to check out this weekends event in Chicago at the Lake Shore Drive In featuring Gene Ferris, Paul Johnson, and Steve Gerard.
